Welker Gets "Wally-Pipped"
Patriots 2009 pre-season game on the road against Philadelphia, Wes Welker was "E.R.W - Eat, Ride and Warm-Up" and Julian Edelman started the game as the punt-returner and in the slot. Belichick took time out of his coaching duties to remind Welker of a guy named Wally Pipp, who was the New York Yankee starter before Lou Gehrig. Pipp decided he couldn't play one day, Gehrig start, never missed a game from another 2,000 games and the rest is history.
