Stuart Scott's Powerful Speech at the 2014 ESPYs
Stuart Scott battled cancer for seven years but that is not why he received the Jimmy V Award for perseverance. He was got the 2014 award because he didn't give up no matter what was thrown at him including four surgeries in seven days as well as kidney failure and liver complications.
Many others pull one particular quote from the speech when he describes how you beat cancer. "When you die, it does not mean you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live."
It is powerful because it is not just about beating cancer. It is about living life. No matter what happens to you, you can be a winner by how you react to it and move on.
"Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it."
