There is a negative connotation with the trades because with more people getting advanced degrees it's tough to imagine that some people would be perfectly content with their trade job. It's great that they are happy, it's what they want. But other people don't want that other people want those advanced degrees so they get those higher jobs. I always say I want a job with a door. Somewhere I can go, open the door, sit down and work and sometimes maybe close the door if I need to. But that's not for everyone. It's respectable.
