What Is Harder To Hit A Baseball or Softball?

It is scientifically proven harder to hit a softball than a baseball. That's why college softball went with the international tie-break rule of starting a runner of second base in extra innings. But my question is shouldn't we rename the idiom "throwing a softball question" to "throwing you a baseball question" if a baseball is easier to hit than a softball?
