Video of the Day: Dr. Smith's "Last Lecture"

Political Science Professor Herb Smith's Last Lecture
McDaniel College

Hey, Dr. Smith us Bostonians know victories don't come easily! We waited 86 years ... 86 YEARS ... for our beloved Red Sox to win their first World Series since selling Babe Ruth to the hated Yankees. (Remember when they won? I showed up to your API class in Red Sox garb, then later that day in Dr. Upton's class, you pop your head in and make a quick remark about having to teach a class with the Red Sox sitting front and center. Must've been difficult.)

Who knew the beginning of the 21st Century was going to be very kind to Boston fans - yet make everyone else in the country hate us? Let's break it down shall we.

2001 - Patriots Win Super Bowl XXXVI

2003 - Patriots Win Super Bowl XXXVIII

2004 - Red Sox Win World Series & Patriots Win Super Bowl XXXVIX

2007 - Red Sox Win World Series

2008 - Celtics Win NBA Title No. 17
(Can't forget about the three straight NCAA DI Men's Hockey Championships won by either Boston College or Boston University from 2008-10.)

2011 - Bruins Win The Stanley Cup
(Another NCAA title for BC Men's Hockey in 2012.)

2013 - Red Sox Win World Series

2016 - Patriots Win Super Bowl XLIX

2017 - Patriots Win Super Bowl LI

2018 - Red Sox Win World Series & Patriots Win Super Bowl LIII
(In college sports, first time all NCAA men's lacrosse champion came from New England ...
DIII - Wesleyan (Conn.); DII - Merrimack College; DI - Yale University.)

Back to his last lecture. How I missed his fishing analogies. Now, you're going to have all the time in the world to go fishing in the Florida Keys and/or Belize.

Yes, Dr. Smith you DID become a political science professor, yet never left the Centennial Conference.

James David Barber!!!

How many times did he mention Hunter S. Thompson at any point and in any class? Or how many times did we all congregate in the hallway right after class and talk about the current state of politics? At least twice a week (and the class met three times in a week).
